25 It's More Than a Quarter!

I turned 25 on Sunday. This was a strange birthday for me, it never really felt like my birthday. I'm not sure why, there aren't any words to explain - except I was emotional and kind of grumpy and definitely didn't feel like it was special day. Everyone told me happy birthday on Facebook, everyone sang happy birthday to me at church, I had dinner with some amazing friends, and even got ice cream, but it just felt weird. I have honestly been wondering this week, why we celebrate our birthdays to begin with. Is it really that big of an achievement to make it through another year of life? Shouldn't our parents be celebrating (when we're kids) that they managed to keep us alive another year? I definitely have not problem receiving money :) I mean I always need money but really why do we buy presents for people on their birthdays? 

I think on Sunday I was stuck in an emotional turmoil of feeling selfish that everyone was paying so much attention to me, and yet frustrated because 25 should have been a bigger deal than it was. So I was stuck between feeling selfish and actually being selfish. Seriously, my brain sometimes!!! So to everyone who put up with me on Sunday, especially Adam, thank you for trying to make my day a special one.

In honor of my birthday, the one thing that always makes me happy, my first love, and something I nerd out about; here are 25 scriptures that mean a lot to me!! These words hold true no matter my age, my mood, my state of mind, or the occasion. It is in these words my life finds meaning and soul rejoices. This is where I find my purpose and my passion.


1. Psalm121:1-2 "I lift my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth."

2. 1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."

3. Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

A Reluctant Queen

Title: A Reluctant Queen

What's it About: I picked this book for Book Club this month and it was actually chosen so I was super excited to read it. This is a fictional story based on the story of Queen Esther from the Bible. Being the Bible nerd I am, it really made me want to grab the Bible and read a long with it, but I refrained in order to enjoy the story for what it was a love story. A love story of a woman for her family, her culture, and eventually her husband. I have never thought about the story of Esther this way. The Bible is very informative, but this made each character real, and their individual stories important to the overall story. It is also a clean and positive read in this world of drama, chaos, and sexuality, it was refreshing.

My Rating out of 5 stars: 5 Stars. I loved the emotions and the way she depicted the story. Now, I'm going to reread the book of Esther in the Bible before we discuss at book club, but as a book on its own this one was really good.
